Today Owen teaches piano and produces local artists at his Bowie recording studio while continuing to organize concerts for charity benefit, perform live with top musicians, and release his original music, blending D.C.-influenced R&B and jazz with Electronic Dance Music.
Owen Adams returns to Blues Alley to release his first solo album, "ManifestO," a full-length CD of original songs, written and recorded in 2017. As a popular DMV jazz keyboardist and tribute band player, Owen has combined his jazz fusion background with the R&B and funk roots of Washington D.C.'s vibrant music scene. ManifestO is a 10-song homage to all of Owen's past influences, including Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, Prince, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Parliament Funkadelic, Sly Stone, the Isley Brothers, Maze, and countless others, many of which will be highlighted during the show.
The different musical styles heard on the album are effortlessly weaved together with uniquely modern song structures, truthfully sincere lyrics, and of course, mind-bendingly virtuosic musicianship and vocal performances. Owen's lyrics deal with falling into and out of love, overcoming struggles of the daily grind, pitfalls of the club scene, the youth drug addiction epidemic, and the power of positive thinking in an increasingly nonsensical and contradictory postmodern world. With the masterful artistry of the historic greats plus original lyrical twists on familiar subjects, Owen Adams presents ManifestO LIVE! with the harmonious Strength & Power vocal trio and an explosive rhythm section featuring master improvisers Steve Lomax (drums), William Henderson (bass), and Greg Gavin (guitar).
